Enzyme Activity Measurement for Acid Phosphatase

Creative Enzymes is a global leader in the supply of enzyme assay services. For years, Creative Enzymes has been working with its diverse and unique customers to support them in their process optimization needs. With an extraordinary team of skillful enzymologists, we offer the most advanced spectrophotometric assay techniques to accurately measure the enzymatic activities of acid phosphatases.

Acid phosphatases (EC 3.1.3.2; phosphate-monoester phosphohydrolase (acid optimum)) are a group of nonspecific phosphomonoesterases, members of which have been characterized from animal, plant, bacterial, and fungal sources. These enzymes catalyze the hydrolysis of a wide variety of phosphate esters and appear to exhibit pH optima below 6. Acid phosphatases can be differentiated according to the structural, catalytic and immunological properties, tissue distribution and subcellular location. There are various types of acid phosphatases that perform multiple characteristics and behaviors. For instance, like many other types of acid phosphatases, tartrate acid phosphatase is unique to mammals, but differs by being resistant to the inhibitory effects of L-tartrate. Besides, some members of the acid phosphatase family are classified as human genes, such as lysophosphatidic acid phosphatase type 6 which is also known as ACP6.

Generally, different forms of acid phosphatases can be found in different tissues and organs, including blood cells, pancreas, bone marrow, and spleen. Specifically, the enzymes were reported to be found with the greatest concentration in the prostate, and up to 1000 times greater in seminal fluid than any other body fluid. Thus, this fact plays a critical role in the detection of prostatic acid phosphatase in vaginal tissue, which provides an evidence that a rape has occurred. In addition, the serum levels of different acid phosphatases can be used to assess the success of the surgical treatment of prostate cancer. Furthermore, phosphatase testing serves as an indicator of enzymatic damage caused by liver disease, kidney disease, or a heart attack. Therefore, acid phosphatases are getting an ever-increasing research interest for being used in diagnostic and medical research.

Relying on its superb enzymatic technology, Creative Enzymes is completely confident to make the most accurate enzyme assays available for acid phosphatases. For details, the activities are measured by monitoring the liberated p-nitrophenol from p-nitrophenyl phosphate, which gives rise to the change in absorbance at 410 nm that can be recorded spectrophotometrically. Our test results are guaranteed to be the most reliable and reproducible. With the technical support from Creative Enzymes, your research is positioned to succeed. Overall, Creative Enzymes is committed to achieving the highest grade of customers’ satisfaction, and to constantly improving its professional services and quality management system.
