Description
Vitamin K2 is a fat-soluble vitamin, a derivative of the naphthoquinone moiety that is biologically active in chlorophyll quinone, and is an essential vitamin in the human body.
Vitamin K2 (MK-7) is a type of vitamin K2, i.e., it contains seven isoprenoid units on the side chain.
Applications
The primary function of vitamin K2 is to promote the absorption and utilization of calcium and to localize calcium into bones and teeth, thereby serving to maintain bone health and prevent osteoporosis. In addition, vitamin K2 may also play a role in cardiovascular health, immunomodulation, and neuroprotection.
