Enzyme Activity Measurement of Glucose 1-Dehydrogenase (FAD, quinone)

Creative Enzymes holds a rigorous approach towards providing the best enzyme activity assays. The quality of our service is unparalleled because of the professional team and the most advanced equipment. The valuable experiences accumulated through testing ten thousands of enzymes will support your research in a reliable way, especially for oxidoreductases such as glucose 1-dehydrogenase (FAD, quinone).

FAD-dependent glucose 1-dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.5.9, formerly EC 1.1.99.10) was first discovered in 1951 in Aspergillus oryzae. This enzyme belongs to oxidoreductases that catalyze the oxidation of first hydroxyl group of glucose and other sugar molecules, using FAD as the primary electron acceptor. Other names in common use include:

  • glucose dehydrogenase (Aspergillus);
  • FAD-dependent glucose dehydrogenase;
  • D-glucose: (acceptor) 1-oxidoreductase;
  • glucose dehydrogenase (acceptor);

More attention is drawn to this enzyme since the application of glucose 1-dehydrogenase (FAD, quinone) as an electrode catalyst in glucose biosensors and for biofuel cell anodes was published and promoted. The advantages of using this enzyme in glucose biosensors are high turnover rates and good stability. Moreover, its oxidative half-reaction is unaffected by oxygen, whereas the oxygen turnover in glucose oxidase-based electrodes reduces the electron yield and produces hydrogen peroxide which degrades the biocatalyst. Due to the vital position in biochemistry, more and more scientists turn their studies onto this enzyme. Although some companies already implemented this enzyme in commercial products, further engineering is still required to improve the enzymatic catalysis of FAD-dependent glucose 1-dehydrogenase, including stability and substrate specificity. To meet the increasing need of enzyme activity measurement, Creative Enzymes supplies a variety of forms of services to satisfy various demands from customers. We design proper approaches with best performances and reliable results.

Creative Enzymes is one of the leading companies which support all your research related to enzymes. We are well known for professional techniques and extensive experiences, ensuring our customers to obtain the highly accurate and reproducible activity test results. Approved by more and more customers, Creative Enzymes is proud to continue the support to you and your research.
