Enzyme Activity Measurement for Testosterone 17Beta-Dehydrogenase(NAD+) Using Spectrophotometric Assays

Creative Enzymes offers reliable activity measurement for testosterone 17beta-dehydrogenase. Our service team includes experienced enzymologists and is equipped with the latest models of UV/vis spectrometers. Creative Enzymes is able to perform precise and fast measurement of the enzymatic activity fortestosterone 17beta-dehydrogenase(NAD+).

Testosterone 17beta-dehydrogenase(NAD+) (EC1.1.1.63) is an enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of testosterone to produce androst-4-ene-3,17-dione, using NAD+ as the redox cofactor. This enzyme exists in both bacteria and eukarya, such as Alcaligenes sp., Homo sapiens, BosTaurus, and Rattusnorvegicus. This enzyme is a member of the oxidoreductase family, more specifically, the oxidoreductases that catalyze the CH-OH group of the substrate and use NAD+ or NADP+ as the cofactor. The systematic name of this enzyme class is 17beta-hydroxysteroid: NAD+ 17-oxidoreductase. Other names in common use include:

  • 3alpha(17beta)-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (NAD+);
  • 3alpha,17beta-hydroxy steroid dehydrogenase;
  • 3alpha(17beta)-HSD;
  • 17-ketoreductase (ambiguous);
  • 17beta-HSD (ambiguous);
  • HSD17B6 (gene name);
  • HSD17B8 (gene name)

Testosterone 17beta-dehydrogenase(NAD+) is involved in androgen and estrogen metabolism, and it is the last enzyme in this pathway. The final step of this pathway involves conversion of androst-4-ene-3,17-dione to testosterone catalyzed by testosterone 17beta-dehydrogenase(NAD+). Testosterone is the key male sex hormone, and it regulates a number of processes in the male body. It has been reported that testosterone can be correlated with obesity and heart diseases. Therefore, testosterone 17beta-dehydrogenase(NAD+) in this pathway could be a target of promising therapies to treat many diseases. Although the enzyme holds a valuable position in medical industries, the activity assay has not been well developed due to the complexity of the reaction mixture. To bridge the gap, Creative Enzymes is proud to provide the unparalleled service of spectrophotometric activity assays for testosterone 17beta-dehydrogenase(NAD+).

Creative Enzymes performs the activity assays on the most advanced spectrophotometric instruments. The cutting-edge techniques distinguishe Creative Enzymes from all of our competitors. Creative Enzymes is sincerely looking forward to collaborations with the customers. We believe that you will be quite satisfied with our service and products.
