Sophora root extract is prepared from the sophora flavescens, a species of plant in the genus sophora. Matrine is the major alkaloid component found in sophora root extract. Sophora root extract is commonly used for the treatment of viral hepatitis, enteritis, cancer, viral myocarditis, gastrointestinal hemorrhage and skin diseases.
