Description
Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic acid, HA) is a macromolecular mucopolysaccharide consisting of N-acetylglucosamine and D-glucuronic acid disaccharide units repeatedly linked. Commercially available hyaluronic acid is usually in its sodium salt form, called sodium hyaluronate.
Sodium hyaluronate has a wide range of molecular weights, and different molecular weights of sodium hyaluronate play different roles in cosmetics:
1. Oligomeric sodium hyaluronate (<10kDa): has the property of transdermal absorption and can penetrate deep into the skin.
2. low molecular weight sodium hyaluronate (10-800kDa): it can penetrate into the dermis layer of the skin, play a role inside the skin, lock the water, promote skin metabolism, make the skin moist and smooth, delicate and soft, elastic.
3. Medium molecular weight sodium hyaluronate (800-1300kDa): Forms a breathable film on the surface of the skin, locks in moisture and firms the skin.
4. High molecular weight sodium hyaluronate (≥1800kDa): excellent lubricity and film-forming properties. Thickening and stabilizing emulsifying effect.
