Description
Polyvinylpyrrolidone, abbreviated as PVP, also known as polyvidone or povidone, is a polymer compound produced by the polymerization of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone. PVP is commonly used as a binder in formulations. Due to its low toxicity and solubility, PVP can be used as a clarifying and stabilizing agent for food and a shaping agent, dispersing agent, and affinity agent for personal care products. In addition, PVP is also used as an excipient in pharmaceutical preparations.
