Description
Thyroglobulin is a glycoprotein consisting of two polypeptide dimers of molecular weight 330,000. Each molecule contains 115 tyrosine residues which are available for iodination. The tyrosine residues in the thyroglobulin molecule is iodinated in the thyroid gland which eventually leads to the synthesis of the thyroid hormones.
