Description
UTP-glucose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase is an enzyme associated with glycogenesis. It synthesizes UDP-glucose from glucose-1-phosphate and UTP; i.e., glucose-1-phosphate + UTP↔ UDP-glucose + pyrophosphate.
Abbr
UDPG pyrophosphorylase, Native (Baker's Yeast)
Applications
Uridine-5′-diphosphoglucose pyrophosphorylase has been used in assays to determine the concentration of pyrophosphate in human urine samples.
Form
Lyophilized, sulfate-free powder containing Citrate buffer salt
Enzyme Commission Number
EC 2.7.7.9
Activity
> 50 units/mg protein
Unit Definition
One unit will form 1.0 μmole of glucose 1-phosphate from uridine-5'-diphosphoglucose and inorganic pyrophosphate per min at pH 7.6 at 25°C.
