Bacillus subtilis protease is an extracellular alkaline protease secreted by bacteria of the genus Bacillus and belongs to the class of serine protein hydrolases. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of proteins to amino acids and synthesizes polypeptides in organic solvents. These alkaline proteases have important application value and are widely used in detergent, tanning and silk industries.
