Malonyl coenzyme A lithium salt is a coenzyme A derivative of malonic acid. Malonyl CoA is involved in chain elongation during fatty acid and polyketide synthesis. Malonyl CoA is also used in transporting alpha-ketoglutarate across the mitochondrial membrane into the mitochondrial matrix.
