Jack beans (Canavalia ensiformis) is a potential source of protein and local feed ingredient. It contains essential amino acids. Jack bean is also rich in phenol, isoflavones, niacin, saponins, and fibre and possesses hypocholesterolemic properties. Jack beans may be used as a "crude urease."
