In vitro
Doxorubicin (DOX) is an anti-tumour agent. Adniamycin inhibits both cellular DNA and RNA synthesis. Doxorubicin can inhibit MCF-7 and MDA-MB231 with IC50 of 1 uM and 2 uM.
In vivo
Doxorubicin can treat non-Hodgkins lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute leukemias, Kaposi sarcoma, Ewing sarcoma, Wilm tumor, and cancers of the breast, adrenal cortex, endometrium, lung, ovary, and other sites. It is sometimes used to treat non-cancerous conditions as well.
