Description
5-Hydroxydecanoate Na (5-HD) is a substrate for mitochondrial outer membrane ACSL (acyl-CoA synthetase) that inhibits ATP-sensitive K+ channels. In neuronal type K sensitive ATP channel currents, 5-Hydroxydecanoate Na diminished the produced activation of the channels by PKG. On perfused rat hearts, 5-Hydroxydecanoate Na has shown the ability to inhibit the toxicity of 6-hyrdoxydopamine on dopaminergic neurons. 5-Hydroxydecanoate Na has displayed a lack of activity in inhibiting oxygen consuming mitochondria derived from skeletal muscle.
