Description
Vibrio alginolyticus is generally considered an opportunistic pathogen found abundantly in seawater and seafood. While its pathogenicity is usually low, disease can occur when its numbers reach a critical level. Recently, a disease known as "Glass Shrimp" has affected shrimp hatcheries nationwide, characterized by symptoms such as sluggish activity, lack of appetite, empty intestines and stomach, blurred hepatopancreas outlines, pale yellow coloration, and a transparent appearance of the shrimp.
