Description
This Ca2+-dependent enzyme is found in skeletal muscle and is genetically linked to limb girdle muscular dystrophy type 2A. The enzyme is activated by autoproteolytic cleavage of insertion sequence 1 (IS1),which allows substrates and inhibitors gain access to the active site. Substrates include the protein itself and connectin/titin. Belongs in peptidase family C2.
